Plant health to New Zealanders means good pasture, healthy crops and a fruitful future free of pests.
In 2020 we're celebrating the International Year of Plant Health, a year-long campaign focussed on sowing the seeds for the future and giving New Zealanders opportunities to learn more about the importance of plant health.
The global campaign is being led by the governing body of the International Plant Protection Convention and the UN Food and Agriculture Organisations. New Zealand’s growing international trade and tourism, and our changing climate, are all likely to increase the risks of new pests or diseases introduction. Promoting the importance of plant health measures will help minimise the introduction and spread of plant pests through movement of plants and plant products.
