The Pestival returns for a third year to lead Auckland to be pest-free and protect and restore the region's unique natural environment.
The day-long educational and networking event is open to community groups and organisations involved in Auckland's efforts to be pest-free by 2050.
MC Jesse Mulligan will introduce bite-size talks from a range of speakers on topics including community-led predator control, new tools to make pest monitoring and control more effective, kauri dieback, changes in the new regional pest management plan, the plight of pekapeka tou roa (long-tailed bat), how business can help conservation, and an update on Ko Tātou This Is Us.
Straight after lunch is the first 'Great New Zealand Conservation Debate', which looks like it will be a lively panel debate between Penny Hulse, Nic Toki, Graeme Hill and Geoff Simmons on which is better - insects or birds.
Finalists in the Mayoral Conservation Awards will also be announced later in the afternoon.
